Today, being Walkie Talkie Wednesday, it's time to look at the Kaiser CBX40 from 1981. Interestingly sold as a 4W 40 channel handheld, we manage to get about 1.7W out of it.....but it's not faulty. No, the 2SC2314 transidtor used in the output of this products, according to the manufacturers specification says "average of 1.8W", and goes on to say "minimum of 1.5W". So ours is working fine & the people at Kaiser in 1981 were liars....or perhaps they tested it some special way....... Anyway it tuned up a treat & we'll see how it does on the 'on the air' test later today. Another video will be made of this on a field test with Mr Chippie using the bodycam.
