@michaeladams34902 years ago I upgraded from 4500 to the 5500 cat 20 modem model. It made a great difference. Speeds went up on 2.4 ghz from 25-35mbs to 45-55mbs and on 5ghz speeds are between 110mbs to 165mbs. Love this new mofi 1

@therosses52 years ago I'm seeing great reviews on the MikroTik LHG LTE kit-us, but not much traction on purchases. Any thoughts? I like that the only cable is ethernet. No bulky mimo setup with dual coax cables.

@kayleydavis12293 years ago Hi, I just received my mofi 5500. It sounds like there is something rolling inside when I move it around. Did this happen for you? Any suggestions on weather I should send it back even if it works for me?
    Thanks so much in advance!

@straightshooter_yt3 years ago I am considering going to one of these due to living in a rural area. When I go to add a line with Verizon in order to get an extra SIM card, does that line have to have hotspot data included with it or can it be a basic unlimited line? Also, will a Jetpack SIM work? ... 2

@danielbowling66813 years ago I just got the 9191 and went from like 12-20 mbps down tops from my 4500 to 80-120 down consistently. Average stays in the 100 range. I have T-Mobile and have had nothing but great things to say BUT I just got my neighbor to buy one and I'm currently setting his up and it won't friggin work. Tech support has been nothing but useless. My T-Mobile sim will work in his new 7690 but I can't get his AT&T sim to work in his new one or my old 4500. Anyone know to how to get AT&T to work in these things?! Thanks in advance!! ... 3

@chrisfannin38982 years ago You mentioned not using prepaid. Is this simply an issue with using prepaid through the big carriers, or any prepaid plan? I used straight talk phone sim in the netgear m1100 for a while. Would this be possible in this unit, or fall into that "no prepaid"? If that's not an option, atm my only internet is through the netgear m1100 with att. Could that sim card be used in the mofi? Or the insty for that matter? ...

@MKB07204 months ago My brother lives in Poolville, Texas, it is pretty much a dead zone for WIFI internet service. I learned about the MOFI router from you and learned how to set it up from your videos, thank you so much for your concise information!! About 3 years ago I got and setup this MOFI model --- MOFI4500-4GXeLTE-SIM4 V3 he is interested in upgrading to a MOFI5500-EM7690. Do you still use MOFI's or have you gone strictly to the insty Connect? I have seen a few videos on the GL-INET SPITZ X3000 router, do you know much about it? Many thanks!! ...

@jimsh80093 years ago Isn't the Insty Connect antenna a 2X2 MIMO? The Proxicast is only an omnidirectional antenna - you didn't use a 2X2 MIMO antenna on the Mofi. Why not use 2X2 MIMO antennas for all routers in the test?

@JesusMedina-st7dr3 years ago Hello All, I just received my Mofi5500. I got the 5G EM9191 model. I am not good at this stuff. I am currently a Sprint customer for my family phone plan. @marlboromatt56563 years ago I’ve got the MOFI 4500. I didn’t realize how over priced and out dated it was until I really started getting into LTE. After lots of research I realized it’s simple to make one myself with much better quality and easier to modify to my desires. I wont mention the Facebook group but if people read this you can make a better router cheaper with an easier ability to modify. You can’t just pop your sim in these with factory settings without the carrier being able to identify your using a router. Get something you can easily customize!! They also offer services that will build one for you . ... 1

@JV_2143 years ago I'm holding out for the MOFI CAT 20 model, I may go with the one that picks up 5G since that is the future of mobile data and is a lot cheaper than the insty. How do you like the antenna you used? the fact that you don't have to pointed right at the tower is fool proof ... 2

@Calypso9932 years ago Think you could get better speeds with a directional antenna.

@tammiedargan12282 months ago No techie here but I know that if someone else is doing something then someone else cant play even the smallest of games at the same time without disconnecting. MoFi is def not a great service when it comes to usage....not really worried about the tech side if the player side doesnt maintain stream. ...

@leoszilard39982 years ago Upgrade?Where,The 4500 uses the same Sierra EM7411(Cat7)module as the 5500/7411.TX rf output (LTE/CDMA?GSM)signal of the em7411 max is 23dbm(190mw).Cell phones transmit 4 to 5 times more rf energy than 23dbm.They have the wifi set at +30dbm.For people in rural areas,23dbm is very low energy to the antennas,Insty connect have much higher rf energy output to the angle winged antenna. And receive sensitivity is better than -110dbm as the em7411 is rated.Bigger box does not mean bigger performance,Its an illusion. ...

@jtevans41853 years ago Just got my 5500 9191. If you’re thinking of getting one DON’T! The firmware is straight trash. Not even alpha quality. They’ve redesigned the menus and limited valuable options. Even after upgrading to the latest firmware (2.0.R18). The carrier auto-detect is GONE - you have to manually set the APN. It will let you select a carrier but only for the band locking utility. The utility will test the bands appropriate for your chosen carrier, but won’t lock them regardless of the option selected. If you want a working 5G router try something else. The Mofi will be a huge paperweight with no danger of connecting to the internet until they’ve had a few months to work out the issues with the firmware. Mine’s going back. ... 1
